This program, broadcasted live on November 14, 2023, brought together national experts, including New York State Board of Elections Chair Doug Kellner and Promote the Vote Michigan Attorney Erica Peresman, who examined how to get on the ballot as a candidate as well as with an initiative/referendum, what are ballot initiatives and referendums, how does New York differ from other states, and how have ballot initiatives and referendums operated to increase voting rights and on other occasions decrease voting rights!

Across the country, voters are making their voices heard with advancements in democracy, voting rights, reproductive health, and more; while other ballot measures are designed to achieve the exact opposite: reducing the same rights other ballot measures seek to preserve and enhance! And next year, New Yorkers will have the exciting opportunity to vote on the Equal Rights Amendment!
