The New York Democratic Lawyers Council (@NYDLC) submitted testimony to the NYC Council Committee on Government Operations regarding the most widespread and recurring voter incidents, irregularities, and election administration problems arising out of the 2017 municipal elections in New York City.
Our current election laws make it difficult for perfectly eligible New Yorkers to exercise their fundamental civil rights and participate in our democracy. As a result, each year thousands of New York voters are unable to cast ballots that count. To remedy this, NYDLC testimony also advocated for the adoption of a series of voting reform proposals that, if enacted, would drastically overhaul and modernize New York's antiquated voter registration and election laws. In addition, NYDLC submitted similar testimony to the NYC Campaign Finance Board Voter Assistance Advisory Committee's Annual Meeting and Hearing on the 2017 NYC Elections.
