Democracy in Peril: The Supreme Court, the Elections Clause, and What's Next?

The Supreme Court has been the story of the year with stunning decisions on guns and abortion rights.  With its next term, the Court will hear a case featuring the controversial Independent State Legislature Theory, and NYDLC has scheduled its next Zoom CLE "Democracy in Peril" for September 21, 2022 at 6 pm to discuss the case and what the court may do!

Come here from the experts, including an attorney on the case, Lali Madduri! Our panel will examine the current state of the Supreme Court, how a case like Moore v. Harper should be decided in line with existing precedent, and what the Supreme Court's recognition of the Independent State Legislature Theory might mean for the future of partisan gerrymandering and election administration.

This event offer 2 NYS professional practice CLE Credits to attorneys who attend.  Non-attorneys and those not seeking credit are welcome to attend as well for free (please email [email protected] to reserve your spot)!

Panelists:

Marina K. Jenkins
Director of Litigation & Policy, National Democratic Redistricting Committee // National Redistricting Foundation

Lali Madduri
Counsel, Elias Law Group
