MVRC June 2021 Meeting

Our next MVRC virtual zoom meeting will be held on June 17th@ 6:30pm.

It will be a full meeting as we are honored to be joined by State Senator from 14th Senate District Leroy Comrie. This will be a great opportunity to talk to the Senator about Constitutional Amendment on No Excuse Applications for Absentee Ballots, bills on curing defects on absentee ballots submitted by voters and many more voting rights legislation that has passed or we hope will pass in the near future.

We will also be joined by Laura Wood the Chief Democracy Officer, Democracy NYC an NYC Office of the Mayor. The meeting will be 5 days away from the NYC primary elections and Ms. Wood will be going over what participating voters will need to know about Rank Choice Voting and how it will effect casting ballots in this election. If you have any questions or need refreshing of your knowledge of RCV please join us for this discussion. We hope attendees will come out of the meeting prepared for June 22nd and be willing to share this information within their networks.

Finally, our spotlight on an organization segment will feature the Latino Democratic Committee of Orange County and its leader Sonia Ayala. Orange County (Newburgh, Middletown Goshen) in the beautiful southern Hudson Valley will have many elected positions up for grabs at county wide elections this November. This election cycle, Orange County has seen large influx of candidates of color deciding to run for many of these positions. For many years LDCOC has been working many of the grassroots activists in the County to create the environment for these candidates to run. Join us as we find out more about how the organization was founded and how we can help them increase turnout and protect the vote.

We will host the meeting on Thursday June 17th @ 6:30pm via zoom conference.
