NYDLC's Steering Committee sets the platform and agenda for all of our projects and initiatives. The Steering Committee meeting is open to all members who would like to be more involved or to those who are new to NYDLC and would like to find out more about our work. At each meeting, we hear reports from all of our Committee Chairs and plan for the months ahead.
All NYDLC members are welcome to attend: To Join NYDLC as a member, please click here. (NYDLC always provides up to a 100% exemption policy for those unable to pay).
Note: 2017 is an "election year" for NYDLC Officers and Elections will be held at the March 29th Steering Committee meeting. Pursuant to NYDLC's Constitution, all are welcome to attend, but to vote on 3/29: members must be in good standing (paid dues or sought exemption) by March 29th and must have attended any 2 of the prior 4 Steering Committee meetings (in person or by phone). Those 4 meetings are: 1) September 2016 Steering, 2) January 2017 and 3) February 2017 Steering meetings, and the February 2017 Strategic Planning Retreat. If you are not sure whether you qualify, please contact [email protected].
To nominate someone for an Officer Position (Co-Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, or Regional Vice President), please send an email to [email protected] that includes the position, nominee's name, contact info, CV, and brief (1-2 ¶) statement of support/interest. Nominations may also be made from the floor on March 29th.
The New York Democratic Lawyers Council (NYDLC) is a coalition of lawyers and voting rights advocates dedicated to fostering universal participation and trust in the electoral process by ensuring that:
- 1. All eligible persons can register to vote easily;
- 2. All registered voters are able to vote conveniently, fairly, without intimidation;
- 3. All voters are counted accurately and all voting systems are open and reliable.
