New Yorkers: America needs you! Targeted asks to our New York, Democratic Congressional delegation could be the difference between getting vote-by-mail done for the whole nation - or, watching it die on Mitch McConnell's desk. The National Disaster and Emergency Ballot act has stalled in the Senate - thanks to the obstructionism of Mitch McConnell (You can read the NYDLC support memo for this bill here.). But hope is not lost: our Congressional sources tell us that the strategy now is to get key provisions of the bill included in the stimulus package currently moving through the house. This means it's game-time for us voting rights advocates in New York - we have to call our Democratic House reps and tell them to make sure these protections are included and funded. Tying these measures to a stimulus bill is our best shot to get them passed.
