In 2024, defending the vote will be key to saving our democracy in an era of misinformation, AI, voter suppression and attacks on our policies, labor, and communities! We will explore the laws that set the stage for this critical year and the voter protection challenges anticipated in this key election year! Join us for this CLE program in Albany at the 53rd Annual Black Latino Hispanic & Asian Legislative Conference, where this panel will review issues identified by New York Democratic Lawyers Council (NYDLC) voter protection efforts in New York, important election reforms implemented into law, as well as key measures on the ballot this year, like the Equal Rights Amendment!
The presentation will be subdivided into first, a discussion of the voter protection issues that occurred in 2022 and 2023, including attempts to disenfranchise communities of color; second, an examination of key pieces of legislation that will help boost participation and preserve the franchise for impacted communities, and finally, a conversation of the challenges facing key voter groups in 2024, as well as the key piece of legislation on the ballot this year!
This event will be a one (1) hour program at 10:45am offering 1 NYS professional practice CLE Credit to attorneys who attend. Non-attorneys and those not seeking credit are also welcome to attend (please email [email protected] to reserve your spot)! THIS EVENT IS FREE FOR ALL WHO CAN ATTEND IN PERSON IN ALBANY!
